doTERRA's lavender oil is a real product with real lavender in it — that's the best thing we can say. The MLM business model means you're paying a massive markup so distributors at every level of the pyramid get their cut: Walmart lists it at $38.67/15ml while comparable non-MLM lavender oils sell for $4–$8 for the same size. Independent testing by Environmental Health News found phthalates in doTERRA Lavender specifically, and the FDA issued a warning letter over health claims made by its distributor network. The CPTG 'Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade' label sounds official but is a proprietary doTERRA trademark — not a third-party certification.
